Bishop Biosketch

Bishop Dr. Selvarajan Dasan

Bishop Dr. D. Selvarajan was born on January 27, 1962, to the most God-fearing couple, Dasan and Muthamma, at Ottaplavila, Venkadambu, Valiyavila. He completed his primary and secondary education at Bishop Benziger Memorial L.P.S., Valiyavila; St. Peter’s U.P.S., Vlatthankara; and Government High School, Kulathoor.

He joined St. Vincent’s Minor Seminary, Palayam, on June 11, 1978. He pursued his Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy at Carmelgiri Pontifical Seminary, Alwaye (1981–1984), and his theological studies at Pontifical Seminary, Mangalappuzha (1984–1987). He was ordained to the priesthood on December 23, 1987, by His Excellency, the Most Reverend Jacob Acharuparambil.

Some of his notable appointments include:

• Parish priest of St. Albert’s Church, Muthiyavila (1988-94).
• Parish priest of St. Jude’s Church, Chinnathura (1994).
• Meanwhile acquired Master’s degree in Sociology from Kerala University (1994).
• Parish priest of St. Theresa of Liesue Church, Manikkapuram (1995)
• Parish priest of St. Paul’s Church, Maranalloor (2001-08).
• Parish priest of Cathedral Church, Neyyatinkara (2008-14).
• Parish priest of Sacred Heart Church, Olathanni (2014-19).
• Parish priest of Francis Xavier’s Church, Thirupuram (2019-2025).
• Parish priest of St. Joseph’s Church, Pathanvila (2025)

He has held several offices, including the following:

• Executive Secretary for Evangelization Commission, Archdiocese of Trivandrum (1990-95).
• Defender of the Bond, Trivandrum Archdiocesan Court (2001-03)
• Director of Pastoral Ministry, Neyyattinkara (2001-2002)
• Corporate Management Director (2002-2007)
• Director of Logos Pastoral Centre, Neyyattinkara (2006-11, 2014-19)
• Chancellor of the Diocese of Neyyatinkara (2008-15)
• Episcopal Delegate for the canonization process of Serv. of God Fr. Adeodatus of St. Peter (2019-24)
• Member of Advisory Body, in the Diocese of Neyyattinkara (2006 on-wards)
• Member of Finance Council, (2007 on-wards)
• Judicial Vicar, (2011 on-wards)
• Episcopal Vicar for Neyyattinkara Region (2018 on-wards).

Higher Studies:He proceeded to Belgium on October 9, 1995, to pursue higher studies. He obtained a Licentiate and a Doctorate in Canon Law from the Catholic University of Leuven. He is proficient in Malayalam, English, French, Latin, German, and Greek.

Appointment to the Episcopate:He was appointed Coadjutor Bishop of the Diocese of Neyyattinkara on February 8, 2025. He was consecrated as Bishop on March 25, 2025, and canonically took possession of office as the Bishop of the Diocese of Neyyattinkara on October 18, 2025, following the acceptance by the Holy See of the resignation of Bishop Vincent Samuel.
